On 9th March we gathered in Renfield St. Stephens church for coffee and biscuits and a talk by Graham Johnston from Lomond Mountain Rescue. As well as being on this team, Graham leads youth expeditions to places such as Iceland and the Himalayan mountain range. He has climbed over 1000 mountains.
52 pensioners applied and slightly less turned up to listen to this interesting talk. We gained knowledge on how the brave volunteers keep people safe on our mountains.
Graham brought along some of the equipment used in rescues such as 44lb backpacks which require strong and fit men and women to carry.
The Association gave a £100 donation to Lomond Mountain Rescue.
