After such a wonderful summer we are now experiencing the usual autumnal weather which signals that it is time to turn our thoughts to happy times and in particular to the arrangements for our Area Christmas Lunch.  We are returning to the same venue as last year and so the Christmas Lunch will take place on:

Wednesday, 5th December 2018 at Douglas Park Golf Club, Hillfoot, Bearsden, Glasgow G61 2TJ.

The Golf Club is situated off Milngavie Road at Hillfoot and is less than a five minute walk from Hillfoot Railway Station.  From the Club’s dining room you get magnificent views of the Golf Course and, weather permitting, the Campsie Hills. Although the dining room is on the first floor of the Clubhouse please note that there is now full disabled access available.

In order to bring our arrangements into line with all other areas in Glasgow & District, we have had to make a couple of changes this year.  Firstly, we are not providing a coach for those travelling from Kirkintilloch and Bishopbriggs. In the past the cost of the coach was included in the price which was paid by everyone whether or not they took advantage of travelling by coach. 

Note:  It might be possible to arrange a lift for anyone who does not have transport so we  would be grateful if you would indicate on the tear-off section if you would be prepared  to offer a lift to anyone living close by.  Similarly please indicate on the tear-off section  that you would like us to try to arrange a lift for you.

The other change we are making is that although we have again opted for a three course meal followed with tea/coffee & Chocolate Mints and Mini Mince Pies, we are not including a glass of wine or a soft drink. In the past the cost of these drinks was included in the price whether or not either of these drinks was taken. This means that all drinks must be paid for in cash at the bar.  

The price has been fixed at £8.50 per person.  This low price, down from £11.00 last year, is only possible due to a very generous subsidy from the Association central funds and we are sure that you will agree that this is indeed a great bargain for which is usually a superb three course meal.

We will gather in the Golf Clubhouse from 12 noon onwards with lunch being served at 1pm.

The full menu is detailed on the accompanying sheet.  When applying please indicate your menu choices on the tear-off section by utilising the code letters against each course option and may we suggest that you keep a note of what you select on the top section as a reminder to yourself on the day.

After the meal there will be a free raffle.  So please do get your applications in early, come along and enjoy a great lunch with former colleagues and friends to help kick start your Christmas celebrations.
