Once upon a time in the 70s

I would like to draw your attention to a new blog created by the originator of this web site, Colin Jackson. It will have light hearted recollections from around the world as to what it was like growing up / living through the late ’60s /’70s. It is something we will all have, mostly, fond memories of. The music, the films and tv shows and how we enjoyed ourselves. Have a look. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

There is also a Facebook group – Once Upon a Time in the 70s – which you may wish to join.

Jim Carson

It is with great regret that I have to advise that our Treasurer, Jim Carson, passed away on 26th August after a short illness.

Jim’s funeral will be at Daldowie Crematorium on Friday 4th September at 1 pm. This will be a private family funeral but it can be viewed at http://www.obitus.com using a user name of cobe5473 and a password of 315476. It will be available to view for 28 days.

House of an Art Lover and Strictly Ballroom

We had booked House of an Art Lover in Bellahouston Park for 16th September. Given the ongoing Covid situation, we have cancelled this and will rebook next year.

We had purchased a number of tickets for Strictly Ballroom, a new Craig Revell Horwood production, for 21st May 2021. This has not been advertised yet. This has now been put back to 2022, presumably because the cast cannot rehearse. We will look at rebooking then. We have asked for, and will be getting, our money back.

It may be unlikely that there will be any events this year up to the festive lunches but we will keep that under review. In the meantime, keep safe and we can go to town when all this is over!🥳

BOOK OF MORMON

The performance we had booked to see on 19th June has been cancelled by The Ambassador Theatre Group. It has been rescheduled for 11th June 2021.

Janette has contacted everyone who had booked to go and instructions have been taken to go to the rescheduled show or take a refund.

Kiss Me Quickstep, Pitlochry Theatre. Cancellation.

Regrettably, Pitlochry Theatre have cancelled their entire summer season for obvious reasons. Our trip to see Kiss Me Quickstep on 1st July has therefore been cancelled.

We will apply for a refund from the Theatre but this may take some time as they state they only have a small number of staff working from home. We will refund those who have paid to go when we receive our refund.

The Theatre have stated they will put on the same programme on the same dates next year. We will look at booking it again in due course.
